Shouts of “Yahoo!” “Hooray!” & “Finally!” can be heard from all over the town by Starbucks connoisseurs. Some in the town aren’t so happy about the worldwide company moving into the SMALL town of Reedley because of the potentially negative effect on local coffee shops. (Isn’t that always the response of small towns to big business?) To my knowledge, there are only a few ‘mom and pop’ coffee shops in town some of which are only open a few hours per day. I don’t know if these will really see a negative impact because of Starbucks. Time will tell. The market may shift, but we smalltowners will have Starbucks at our fingertips! Here’s just one more reason to look forward to August!

Yum… one more reason to come for a visit… easy access to caffeine & Lisa!
Love you!
Dear Andrew, Sorry about the Mom and Pops. We have the same issues here in Lodi. But alas, NO ONE does it like Starbucks does it!!! Lodi is preparing for her fourth! And it is on the east side of town, Kettleman and 99. Yahoo! Love, MommyGirl
Lisa,
Sounds awesome. It sounds like it’ll be a good move to attract THIS young creative professional to Reedley. And maybe, in true capitalistic fashion, it’ll force the Mom n’ Pops to raise the bar of quality, atmosphere, and price! Who knows?
Thankful for market forces (and Starbucks),
Andrew
Wow, cool.
When this happened in Lodi, people feared the same. But I read an article about how it actually HELPED places like Tillie’s, right around the corner, by attracting customers to the area. Several others have even opened since Starbucks, proving that good business begets more good business (usually). So, fear not, Coffee & Candy. The locals will stay with you.
Mom, 4????? I only know of two in Lodi (in front of Target and by the Theatre. Where’s the 3rd?
