When we tell people we’re execting a child, they ask a few questions:
1) Are you going to find out the child’s gender? and 2) Do you have any names picked out?
Here are our answers: 1) We’re not sure yet and 2) Not really.
While we don’t have any names picked out, we DO have a list of names we won’t be using. Here’s our list, but feel free to leave a few of your own “please don’t use that name” names.
- Aiden
- Braden
- Caden
- Jaden
- Hayden
- Faden
- Any variant of those previous names
- Hector (Lisa doesn’t want me to use this one)
- Liam
- Andrew
- Lisa
- Greta (already taken)
- Rachel
- Jonathan
- Mopsy
- Flopsy
- Cottontail
- Gage
- Donatello
- Poindexter
Um, let’s see…
Dorcas
Cornelius
Frederick
Just a few to ponder.
Hey – What’s wrong with Jonathan? I think it is a very good name. 🙂
Broken (Shinn)
Axel
Judas
Sebastian
Seamus
Bambi
but I do like Patricia 🙂
I noticed that the boy names are out weigh girl ones… hummmmm
We find out Tuesday if the wee one is a boy or girl. Let the name hunt begin!
Hi, Jonathan, Nice to see you on here! There’s nothing wrong with your name; it’s just that we already have one in my family. My twin brother is named Jonathan. If that weren’t the case, it would totally be on the table! Everyone else: keep the names flowing! (And I do kind of like Seamus. We’ll see what Lisa thinks. I think some friends may already have that one reserved.)
I vote no for:
Cyrus
Emory
Voldemort
But I vote yes for:
Hazel
Ivy
Josephine
Muriel
Winifred
Millie
Molly
Nora
Amos
Grayson
Alonzo
Henry
Lorenzo
Sullivan
What about Emo? Or Devo? Or perhaps Russ? I also fancy Poe.
PICTURES FROM THIS WEEKEND, PLEASE!!!! Lisa’s camera too – I didn’t have any on mine! 🙁
On the ‘no’ list should be Patricia………..Pat Shinn could be misconstrued…right?
I like : Connie
Bonnie
but no Mae…..Gma Coulter and I did not enjoy ours.
Too bad we have to name our children before we have them around for awhile….so we could better determine what suits their inherent dispositions….Oh well.
I know you will make a good decision, and we’ll all love it.
Hugs…..Gmanina
Good point, Grandma! I’ve always thought it odd that we label our offspring before we know whether the label is going to fit well. But I guess defaulting to something like ‘beanie’ would be one of the dangers of such a course!
OK. I wasn’t sure if ‘Jonathan’ fit in with ‘Andrew’ and ‘Lisa’ above or ‘Mopsy’ and ‘Flopsy’ below. 🙂
Anyway, here’s some of the more unusual names of some of my ancestors. I’d recommend some, but others…not so much.
